Behind The Scenes With Robbie McAfee

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

When I’m not at the racetrack, I dedicate myself to fitness and my personal development at the gym, consistently pushing my limits. Running has always been a passion of mine growing up as a competitive sprinter, I approach it with the same intensity and determination as an professional athlete!

What motivated you to start racing? How did you first start and what does racing mean to you?

I grew up obsessed with Motorsport but not having the means to be able to go racing as young kid, I finally got the opportunity at age 14 to test a Formula Vee at my local racetrack in Wanneroo, and I haven’t looked back since, coming 2nd in my rookie season that year and slowly moving up the ranks over the last 6 years!

Racing gives me purpose and drives me every day to be my best. As a driver, there’s no feeling like accelerating out of the pitlane and being on the edge of grip, at one with the car.

How do you define success for yourself?

Consistently pushing myself to my limits in the push to achieve my goals of winning in whatever situation I’m in, from business to the gym to the racetrack, that feeling of achievement and standing on the top podium step is unlike anything else!

Career aspirations? Goals/projects you haven't yet pursued?

To race at Mount Panorama in Bathurst, Australia’s most iconic racetrack is pretty high up there, as well as winning a National Championship would be phenomenal, I’m always looking to expand my horizons and continue to build my own business in Motorsport Coaching.

How do you stay motivated/inspired?

There is nothing like Motorsport, it’s my passion & it pushes me every single day to be at my absolute best. I’m determined to be a champion & I’m willing to do whatever it takes to get there, there is no victory without sacrifice.

I love that racing allows me to connect with a multitude of fantastic people every day who all have different skillsets. But the cherry on top? Knowing when I roll up at the track, every single day, no matter how the weekend unfolds, I'll pick up a new skill, challenge myself, and be surrounded by a crew of inspirational people.

What advice would you give to someone starting in your field?

Make Moves! haha excuse the pun, My advice would be to make a start somewhere, anywhere and find ways to continue to learn & better yourself in whatever it may be, not only Motorsport, wether it’s on a simulator, getting started at your local racetrack and the ways you can go about getting in your first car on track, finding sponsorship in your field and getting support from friends and family, to building your social media and creating your own brand identity, being curious and willing to go the extra mile is always the biggest thing!

What made you want to collaborate with Make Moves?

Similarly to what I mentioned earlier, being in Motorsport, “Making Moves” has got me to where I am today and I really identify with what Make Moves have been doing in the industry and their entire brand ethos, pushing others to strive forward and representing that mindset with a brand full of great people and awesome values is something really important to me, and I have no doubt it will be a household name one day.

Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers?

I can’t wait for what Make Moves has in store for 2025!
and I’m ready to push the boundaries with them and show you what we are all about!
